Three killed, one critically injured in lift collapse at Faisalabad CPO complex

Faisalabad: Three labourers were killed and another sustained critical injuries after a lift collapsed at the under-construction City Police Office (CPO) complex in Faisalabad, police said on Thursday.

According to police, the incident took place at the construction site of the new CPO office complex near Iqbal Stadium, which falls within the limits of Civil Lines police station. The lift was carrying four workers when it malfunctioned and plunged from a height, leaving all four occupants with serious injuries.

Rescue 1122 teams reached the site after the incident and provided initial medical assistance before shifting the injured workers to Allied Hospital Faisalabad.

Police said two of the workers, identified as 15-year-old Shehron Masih and 47-year-old Younas Masih, died at the scene. A third worker, 21-year-old Ghulam Fareed, later died of his injuries at the hospital.

The fourth worker, Gulfam, was stated to be under treatment and in critical condition.

Senior police officers also arrived at the site soon after the incident. Those who visited included SSP Operations Saleem Abbas Kalachi, SP Lyallpur Town Abid Hussain Zafar, DSP Civil Lines and the SHO Civil Lines.

Police took the bodies of the deceased into custody and, after completion of legal formalities, handed them over to their families.

Incident at under-construction police complex

The accident occurred while work was in progress on the new City Police Office complex. Police described the site as being located near Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad.

The collapse of the lift resulted in multiple casualties among the labourers on board. Authorities said the victims were severely injured when the lift broke down and fell.

Emergency responders transported the injured men to Allied Hospital Faisalabad, where one of them later succumbed to his wounds.

The incident drew the attention of senior police officials, who reached the construction site following the accident. Police also completed the required legal procedures before releasing the bodies to the families of the deceased workers.
