Pakistan warns India of stronger response ahead of Pahalgam attack anniversary

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has warned India that any future military move would be met with a stronger response, as tensions rise ahead of the anniversary of the Pahalgam attack.

According to Geo News, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said Pakistan’s commitment to protecting its sovereignty remained unwavering and that the country was fully prepared to respond to any aggression. He said India’s recent rhetoric showed what he described as visible strategic anxiety.

Asif said New Delhi appeared to be seeking escalation in connection with the anniversary of the Pahalgam attack. He maintained that Pakistan had already demonstrated its capability and resolve, and warned that any repeat of hostile action would invite a more forceful reply.

The defence minister’s remarks came in the context of renewed tensions between the two countries and public statements from Indian leaders. Asif contrasted Pakistan’s position with India’s posture, saying Islamabad remained firm in defending its territorial integrity.

Warning linked to regional tensions

Geo reported that the minister’s statement was issued ahead of the Pahalgam attack anniversary, a period during which Pakistan believes India may seek to heighten tensions. Asif said Pakistan was alert to the possibility of escalation and would not remain passive in the face of any threat.

He said Pakistan’s response in the event of any aggression would be stronger than before. He framed India’s statements as a sign of unease rather than confidence.

Pakistan’s resolve to defend sovereignty is absolute.

The report also referred to Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in the broader context of the exchange of rhetoric between the two sides. Asif’s comments were presented as a direct warning that Pakistan would answer any hostile step with greater force.

Geo said the Pakistani defence minister viewed India’s messaging ahead of the anniversary as part of an attempt to create escalation. He reiterated that Pakistan was prepared and capable of defending itself.

The latest statement adds to the sharp tone in public messaging between Islamabad and New Delhi, with Pakistan signalling that it is closely watching developments around the anniversary and is prepared for any eventuality. Asif’s remarks underscored that Pakistan sees its defence posture as firm and non-negotiable in the face of external threats.
