Blasts shake area near Pakistan embassy in Tehran as conflict intensifies

ISLAMABAD: Explosions were reported near the Embassy of Pakistan and the ambassador’s residence in Tehran, as the Iranian capital marked its 28th straight day under aerial bombardment, according to diplomatic sources on Friday.

All Pakistani diplomats were confirmed safe, though the شدت of the blasts left them shaken.

The development comes as Islamabad, alongside Turkey and Egypt, continues diplomatic efforts to push for a ceasefire between the United States and Iran.

The explosions occurred around 8pm on Thursday near both the embassy and the ambassador’s residence in Tehran’s Pasdaran district. Sources suggested that a nearby Iranian military installation, located opposite the embassy, may have been the intended target.

A senior diplomat said the blasts were loud but caused no physical damage to the embassy or residential buildings. Staff members in the vicinity were unsettled by the intensity of the explosions.

He noted that while the noise was alarming, windows remained intact, though concerns persist given the unstable conditions.

Despite the risks, Pakistani diplomatic personnel continue to perform their duties in the tense environment. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, and no casualties or structural damage have been reported.

The conflict involving the United States and Israel against Iran began on February 28, following strikes that resulted in significant loss of life, spread instability across parts of the Middle East, and triggered fluctuations in global energy markets.

Iranian officials report that at least 1,937 people, including women and children, have been killed. In response, Iranian strikes have also caused fatalities in Israel, according to international media reports.
