 ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday highlighted Pakistan’s proactive diplomatic engagement for global peace as he met Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to review the evolving situation in the Gulf and discuss key national issues.

During the meeting, the prime minister briefed a delegation of the Pakistan Peoples Party, led by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, on Islamabad’s ongoing diplomatic efforts in response to rising tensions in the Gulf. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to promoting stability, dialogue and peaceful conflict resolution on the international stage, according to a Prime Minister’s Office statement.

PM Shehbaz underscored that Pakistan is actively navigating emerging regional challenges through a balanced strategy that combines foreign policy engagement, internal security preparedness and economic resilience. He stressed that safeguarding national interests while contributing to global peace remains a central priority of his government.

The two leaders also exchanged views on political developments and broader issues of national importance, including Pakistan’s internal and external security environment and preparedness to address potential challenges arising from escalating tensions in the Gulf region.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari appreciated the prime minister’s leadership and policy direction, particularly in steering the country through a complex and uncertain regional landscape. He expressed support for the federal government’s approach to mitigating risks linked to the evolving conflict scenario.

The meeting further reviewed ongoing federal development projects in Sindh, reflecting continued coordination between the federal government and provincial leadership on economic and infrastructure priorities.

Among those present were Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar, Adviser to the Prime Minister Rana Sanaullah, and Senator Saleem Mandviwala.
