LAHORE: Pakistan Railways has posted a record Rs480 million revenue from passenger trains over the three days of Eid, reflecting a surge in travel demand and improved operational performance, according to an official statement.
The breakdown shows revenue of Rs110 million on the first day of Eid, Rs170 million on the second day, and over Rs200 million on the third day, underscoring a steady upward trend during the festive period.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, a spokesperson said that during the past week, Pakistan Railways generated more than Rs1 billion in total revenue from passenger trains, marking a significant milestone for the department.
Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi attributed the strong performance to positive policy direction and effective administrative measures, and congratulated the entire management on the achievement.
He directed authorities to further accelerate efforts to improve the overall train journey experience for passengers.
The minister emphasized that provision of quality passenger facilities and strengthening of railway infrastructure remain top priorities, adding that work is already underway on these fronts. He further stated that the Karachi–Rohri railway track will be fully upgraded within the next three years, a move expected to enhance travel standards as well as significantly increase train speeds.
