RAWALPINDI: Police have apprehended five individuals linked to a property fraud case in which a woman and her nephew were held hostage and robbed of Rs4 million.
Authorities said the principal suspect, Arshad Zaman, also known as Langra, allegedly planned the scheme from abroad, using accomplices on the ground to execute it.
The complainant, Shamim Akhtar of Raja Town, told police that she had recently sold property and gathered funds for Hajj and her daughter’s wedding. A property dealer named Nadeem persuaded her to invest in another property, promising substantial profits.
She and her nephew were then taken to a house in Mohalla Hajian, where several suspects were present. During a video call, the accused claimed ownership of the property, which raised her suspicions.
