RAWALPINDI: Three staff members of Adiala Jail, including an assistant superintendent, have been suspended following allegations of negligence and corruption, after cash was recovered from them during an inspection by Monitoring Home Department DG Athar Saeed.

Jail sources said Assistant Superintendent Imran Shehzad was suspended for failing to stop illegal activities carried out by his subordinates. The other suspended officials are warder Sohail Ahmed, responsible for searches, and warder Shafqat Naveed, in charge of supplies.

During the inspection, Rs18,220 was reportedly found hidden in Sohail Ahmed’s socks, believed to have been collected from visitors in exchange for facilitating the delivery of goods inside the jail.
