Eid traffic crashes claim 44 lives across Pakistan, youths and motorcyclists worst hit
At least 44 people were killed in traffic accidents across Pakistan during the Eid holidays, with youths and motorcyclists being the worst affected groups among the victims.

LAHORE: At least 44 people lost their lives and over 5,400 others were injured in road accidents across Punjab during the first two days of Eid, reflecting a sharp rise in traffic-related incidents during the holidays.
According to official data, 23 fatalities and 2,792 injuries were recorded in 2,206 accidents on Saturday. The next day saw 21 more deaths in 2,087 crashes, leaving 2,643 people injured.
In total, 4,293 accidents were reported over the two days, resulting in 44 deaths and 5,435 injuries province-wide.
Rescue authorities said that on the second day alone, 1,230 seriously injured individuals were transported to hospitals, while 1,413 others with less severe injuries were treated at the scene.
A similar trend was noted on Eid day, where many victims received on-site medical assistance, reducing the burden on hospitals.
Lahore emerged as the worst-affected city on both days, with 322 accidents reported each day. These incidents left over 800 people injured and caused at least three deaths in the city.
Other major cities such as Faisalabad, Multan and Gujranwala also reported high numbers of accidents, attributed to increased travel and traffic congestion during Eid.
Data analysis showed that motorcyclists accounted for the majority of cases, with nearly 84 per cent of accidents involving bikes. Officials identified overspeeding, careless driving and traffic violations as the main factors behind the crashes.
