Arson attacks by Israeli settlers continue in West Bank amid European condemnation

JERUSALEM: A wave of arson attacks carried out by Israeli settlers against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank has persisted despite growing condemnation from several European nations over what they have termed rising "terror" by illegal settlers.

The Israeli military confirmed that its forces were deployed to multiple Palestinian villages in response to the violence.

"Last night, IDF and border police forces were dispatched to several Palestinian villages… following reports of Israeli civilians committing acts of arson against structures and property, as well as engaging in disturbances in the area," the Israeli military said.
"The security forces condemn violence of any kind and will continue to act to maintain the security of residents and public order in the area."

Palestinians injured in attacks

The Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that several Palestinians sustained injuries during the settler attacks, which targeted structures and property in Palestinian villages across the occupied territory.

The latest incidents of settler violence came after the Israeli army said an Israeli civilian died on Saturday following a report involving a Palestinian vehicle.

Rising death toll

The escalation in settler-related violence has taken a deadly toll on West Bank residents. At least six Palestinians living in the West Bank have been killed in attacks linked to Israeli settlers since early March, according to reports.

European nations speak out

A number of European countries have voiced their outcry against the growing pattern of settler violence in the occupied West Bank, describing the acts as "terror." The condemnation from European nations, however, has so far failed to deter the attacks, which have continued unabated.

The settler violence has drawn increasing international attention as the frequency and severity of attacks against Palestinian communities in the West Bank have risen. The arson incidents represent part of a broader pattern of aggression by Israeli settlers against Palestinian residents and their property in the occupied territory.

The Israeli military's acknowledgement of the attacks and its stated commitment to maintaining public order come at a time when the security situation in the West Bank remains volatile, with tensions running high between settler communities and Palestinian residents.
