Villagers walk for water
In Amrio village, residents face a severe water crisis, walking long distances for safe drinking water. Despite complaints, no effective solutions have been implemented.

The Amrio village has no access to safe drinking water. Groundwater is saline and quite dangerous for human consumption. Old village wells, once a major source of fresh water for the residents, have become non-functional. A single saline water well with a motor exists at some distance, but it is not enough to meet the needs of the local population. The government-installed RO plants are located at least a couple of kilometres away. These facilities are often non-functional or inaccessible as well. Every day, women walk long distances carrying water containers, and children miss school to help collect the precious commodity. Despite repeated complaints to all local and provincial authorities, no effective solution has been provided yet. The wait continues.
