Jemima Goldsmith urges PM Shehbaz to allow Imran Khan’s sons to visit him in jail

ISLAMABAD: Jemima Goldsmith, the former wife of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, has made a direct appeal to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to facilitate a meeting between her sons and their incarcerated father.

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, Jemima stated that her sons, Sulaiman and Kasim Khan, who reside in London, have been waiting for over two months for their Pakistani visas to be processed so they can visit Imran Khan, who is currently imprisoned in Rawalpindi’s Adiala jail.

Jemima wrote: “My sons Sulaiman and Kasim Khan applied for visas in January (again… ) to allow them to visit their father, Imran Khan, in Pakistan. The Pakistan consulate states that online visa processing normally takes 7–10 working days. It has now been 60 days.”

She highlighted that the delay in visa issuance comes despite public assurances from Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, who had promised that her sons could safely travel to Pakistan to meet their father after four years. Jemima also mentioned that Mosharraf Zaidi, the Prime Minister’s spokesperson for foreign media, had made a similar commitment regarding the visit.

Jemima further stated, “Meanwhile, they (Kasim and Suleiman)…” but the statement was cut off in the available report.

Imran Khan, the former prime minister and PTI founder, has been held at Adiala jail in Rawalpindi. His sons, who live with Jemima in London, have not seen him in person for several years.

Jemima’s appeal has brought renewed attention to the issue of visa delays for family members of high-profile detainees, and she has called on the Pakistani authorities to expedite the process so that her sons can visit their father as soon as possible.
