Ishaq Dar engages Azerbaijan counterpart on tegional tensions as diplomacy intensifies

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Tuesday held a telephonic conversation with Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov to discuss the evolving regional situation and matters of mutual interest.

According to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pakistan, the two leaders exchanged views on recent developments and reaffirmed the importance of continued coordination between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.

The outreach comes amid heightened regional tensions following the conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, prompting Islamabad to intensify diplomatic engagements aimed at de-escalation.

A day earlier, Dar also met with US Acting Chargé d’Affaires Zachary Harkenrider, where both sides discussed bilateral relations and the broader regional landscape.

During the meeting, Dar underscored the urgent need for peace and stability, stressing that diplomatic engagement remained the only viable path forward.

In recent days, the foreign minister has held multiple calls with counterparts from Gulf countries and beyond, reiterating Pakistan’s position in favour of dialogue and restraint in line with the principles of the United Nations Charter.

Pakistan’s leadership has ramped up diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation, advocating for peaceful resolution of conflicts through sustained international cooperation.
