QUETTA: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (Fazl) candidate from PB-36, Kalat, Saeed Ahmed Langove, has accused authorities of large-scale rigging during the recent re-polling at seven polling stations in the constituency.
Addressing a press conference at the Quetta Press Club on Sunday, Saeed Ahmed Langove claimed that significant irregularities took place during the polling process. He alleged that the results were manipulated to favour his opponent, Mir Ziaullah Langove of the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), through the use of 'missing' ballot boxes.
The JUI-F candidate stated that, according to the voter lists for the seven polling stations, a total of 92 ballot boxes were required. However, he said that only 34 ballot boxes were actually delivered to the polling stations, leaving 58 ballot boxes unaccounted for. Saeed Ahmed Langove alleged that these missing ballot boxes were used by his rival to stamp ballot papers and rig the election outcome.
"Only 34 out of 92 ballot boxes were delivered to polling stations," Saeed Ahmed Langove asserted during the press conference.
He further claimed that while he was travelling to Kalat, he was stopped for two hours at a Frontier Corps (FC) checkpoint, which he suggested was an attempt to hinder his oversight of the polling process.
Saeed Ahmed Langove announced that he would pursue legal action regarding the alleged irregularities and rigging in the re-polling process.
No response from election authorities or the rival candidate was reported in the statements provided by Saeed Ahmed Langove.
