Foreign Office terms Indian criticism of Pakistan’s Afghan operations as 'shamefully hypocritical'

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's Foreign Office has strongly rejected recent remarks from India regarding Pakistan's counter-terrorism operations in Afghanistan, labeling them as “shamefully hypocritical.”

During the weekly press briefing on December 5, 2025, Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi addressed the media, responding to statements made by Indian officials. Andrabi described India's criticism as “absurd” and “unwarranted,” emphasizing that such comments were not only misplaced but also reflected a double standard in India’s approach to regional security issues.

Andrabi stated, “India’s criticism of Pakistan’s actions is shamefully hypocritical,” and underscored that Pakistan’s operations are focused on countering terrorism and ensuring the safety and security of its citizens. He further noted that India’s remarks disregarded the context and necessity of Pakistan’s actions against terrorist threats emanating from Afghan territory.

The spokesperson reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to combating terrorism and highlighted the country's efforts to maintain peace and stability in the region. Andrabi also called on India to refrain from making statements that, according to him, undermine Pakistan’s legitimate security concerns and counter-terrorism measures.

He concluded by urging the international community to recognize the challenges Pakistan faces due to cross-border terrorism and to support its efforts in addressing these threats.
