Biometric attendance and CCTV surveillance introduced at sensitive matric exam centres in Punjab

LAHORE: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore has announced the implementation of strict monitoring measures at sensitive examination centres for the Matriculation Examinations 2026 across Punjab. These measures include biometric attendance and CCTV surveillance to enhance transparency and uphold merit in the examination process.

According to officials from BISE Lahore, the initiative will be rolled out at selected centres under all BISEs operating in Punjab. At these centres, biometric verification of candidates is currently underway. A spokesperson for BISE Lahore stated that 26 sensitive examination centres have been identified for this purpose, and CCTV cameras have been installed at these locations to closely monitor the examination proceedings.

A total of 8,524 candidates are scheduled to appear at these sensitive centres. Of these, biometric verification has already been completed for 4,300 candidates, while the process continues for the remaining candidates. The last date for biometric verification of 10th-grade candidates has been set as March 16, as per the BISE Lahore spokesperson.

The introduction of biometric attendance and CCTV surveillance is part of ongoing efforts by examination authorities to ensure that the Matriculation Examinations are conducted in a fair and transparent manner. Officials emphasized that these steps are aimed at preventing malpractice and ensuring that only legitimate candidates are able to sit for the exams.

Further details regarding the issuance of roll number slips and additional security measures are expected to be shared by the examination boards as the verification process progresses.
