PML-F criticises government over wheat procurement policies, urges price revision

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) has voiced strong criticism against the government, alleging injustices towards farmers, particularly in relation to wheat procurement policies.

According to a statement from the party, PML-F leaders have called for the government to address what they describe as unfair practices impacting the agricultural community. The party has specifically demanded a revision of the wheat procurement price, arguing that the current rates are insufficient to cover the rising costs faced by farmers.

PML-F representatives stated that the existing procurement price does not reflect the actual expenses incurred by farmers in cultivating wheat. They urged the government to set a fair and sustainable rate that would ensure the welfare of the agricultural sector and support the livelihoods of rural communities.

The party further highlighted that the agricultural sector plays a vital role in the national economy, and neglecting the needs of farmers could have broader economic consequences. PML-F leaders called on the authorities to engage with stakeholders and take immediate steps to rectify the situation.

They also emphasised the importance of timely government intervention to prevent further hardships for farmers, noting that a fair procurement price would help stabilise the market and encourage increased wheat production in the future.
