Jamaat-e-Islami to hold jirgas in major cities over Balochistan crisis

ISLAMABAD: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has announced plans to organise jirgas in major cities across Pakistan to address the ongoing crisis in Balochistan, according to party officials.

JI chief Sirajul Haq stated that the party will convene these jirgas in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, and Quetta. The initiative aims to bring together political leaders, civil society members, and other stakeholders to discuss the situation in Balochistan and seek possible solutions.

Sirajul Haq emphasised the importance of unity and dialogue, saying, "We want to bring all stakeholders together to find a peaceful solution to the Balochistan crisis." He added that the jirgas would provide a platform for open discussion and help highlight the grievances of the people of Balochistan.

The JI chief also called on the government to take immediate steps to address the concerns of Balochistan's residents. He urged authorities to resolve the issues through peaceful means and dialogue rather than force.

According to Sirajul Haq, the party's decision to hold jirgas comes in response to the ongoing unrest and dissatisfaction in Balochistan. He noted that the people of the province have long-standing complaints related to political, economic, and social issues.

JI leaders believe that engaging various segments of society through jirgas could help build consensus and promote understanding regarding the challenges faced by Balochistan. The party has invited representatives from all political parties, civil society organisations, and the media to participate in these gatherings.

Further details regarding the dates and venues of the jirgas are expected to be announced soon.
