Sindh government introduces Pakistan’s first digital insurance monitoring system

KARACHI: The Sindh government has launched Pakistan’s first digital insurance monitoring system, marking a significant step towards improving road safety and regulatory oversight in the province.

According to a report by Geo News, the new system aims to streamline the monitoring of vehicle insurance and ensure compliance with mandatory third-party insurance requirements. The initiative is designed to support the province’s ongoing efforts to modernize traffic management and enhance public safety on the roads.

The digital insurance monitoring system will work in conjunction with the Intelligent Traffic System (ITS) and the e-challan system, which utilizes traffic cameras installed at key locations such as PIDC Chowk in Karachi. These technologies are intended to facilitate the enforcement of traffic laws and the collection of fines, while also verifying that vehicles have valid insurance coverage.

Officials stated that the system will make it easier for authorities to track insurance status in real time, reducing the risk of uninsured vehicles on the roads. The move is expected to benefit both motorists and insurance providers by increasing transparency and simplifying the verification process.

The Sindh government has also made third-party insurance mandatory for all vehicles, reinforcing its commitment to road safety and legal compliance. The introduction of the digital monitoring system is seen as a pioneering effort in Pakistan, with Sindh being the first province to implement such a platform.
