X Suspends Revenue Sharing for Undisclosed AI-Generated War Videos
X will suspend creators from its revenue sharing program for 90 days if they post AI-generated war videos without disclosure, aiming to ensure information authenticity during ongoing conflicts.

Social media platform X has announced a new policy suspending creators from its revenue sharing program for 90 days if they post AI-generated videos of armed conflicts without proper disclosure. The move, revealed on Tuesday, is aimed at addressing concerns over the authenticity of information shared during ongoing conflicts involving the US, Israel, and Iran, according to company statements.
Policy Change Targets AI-Generated Content
An executive from X stated that the policy specifically targets the threat posed by undisclosed AI-generated videos depicting war. The company described the proliferation of such content as a significant risk to information authenticity, particularly during periods of conflict. Nikita Bier, X’s head of product, emphasized the importance of access to genuine information, noting, “During times of war, it is critical that people have access to authentic information on the ground.”
Bier further highlighted the ease with which current AI technologies can be used to create misleading content, stating that it is now “trivial to create content that can mislead people.”
Ongoing Policy Refinement
X indicated that the platform would continue to refine its policies and products to ensure trustworthiness during critical moments. In a statement released on Monday, the company said it is committed to ongoing improvements to maintain the reliability of information shared on the platform.
“During times of war, it is critical that people have access to authentic information on the ground,” said Nikita Bier, X’s head of product.
The new disclosure requirement marks a significant shift in X’s approach to content moderation, especially as the platform has faced criticism over its handling of misinformation since its acquisition by Elon Musk.
The policy change is part of broader efforts by X to address the challenges posed by rapidly advancing AI technologies and their potential to spread misleading or false information during sensitive global events.
