Policeman Martyred in Armed Attack on Tank District Police Station

A police constable lost his life after armed assailants attacked the Mulazai police station in Tank district, officials said on Tuesday. The incident occurred late Monday night when unidentified attackers opened heavy and automatic gunfire on the police station from two directions.

According to officials, police personnel stationed inside the premises responded to the assault, resulting in an intense exchange of fire that lasted for some time. During the confrontation, Constable Jehanzaib, who was on duty, sustained critical injuries. He later succumbed to his wounds, officials confirmed.

Following the attack, reinforcements were dispatched to the area, and a search operation was launched in an effort to locate the perpetrators. The situation in the locality remained tense in the aftermath of the incident.

Sources noted that the attack comes amid a recent increase in terrorist violence targeting security forces in various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Tank district. In recent weeks, the area has witnessed several incidents involving gun attacks and improvised explosive device blasts.

Authorities have not released further details regarding the identity of the attackers or any arrests made in connection with the incident. The investigation and search operation are ongoing.
