QUETTA – Three members of a family were shot dead in the Sariab Mills area of Quetta on Monday, reportedly over a dispute related to a court marriage, according to police officials.
Authorities stated that the accused, identified as the brother of the deceased woman, entered the house near the Saddam Railway Crossing and opened fire. The victims were named as Sakina Bibi, her husband Muhammad Yaqoob, and their two-year-old son. Police said all three sustained multiple bullet injuries and died at the scene.
Police officials added that the couple’s other child was present during the incident but remained unharmed. The bodies of the deceased were shifted to a local hospital following the shooting.
Initial investigations revealed that Sakina Bibi, originally from Noshki, had developed a relationship with Muhammad Yaqoob. The two later married through the court system and relocated to Quetta, where they had been living for the past four years. During this period, the couple had two sons.
Officials indicated that the motive behind the attack was linked to the couple’s court marriage, which reportedly angered the accused. Police responded to the incident promptly after receiving information and have launched further investigations into the case.
No arrests were reported at the time of the initial police statement. Authorities are continuing their efforts to apprehend the suspect and determine any additional circumstances surrounding the incident.
