The Special Branch has highlighted significant security deficiencies at international food chain outlets in Rawalpindi, following a recent security audit conducted amid heightened regional tensions. Familiar with the matter, the security survey was carried out by Special Branch field staff at two branches of an international food chain located within the New Town police jurisdiction.
The audit revealed that only one of the outlets had a security guard stationed at its entrance, while the other outlet lacked any security personnel. Officials expressed concern over this situation, especially in light of the prevailing security environment. They recommended that both outlets implement stronger security protocols, including the deployment of additional security guards and the establishment of an effective checking mechanism to enhance vigilance and deter potential threats.
Sources indicated that these recommendations aim to prevent any untoward incidents at these popular public venues. The Special Branch emphasized the need for immediate action to address these vulnerabilities, noting that increased security measures are essential given the current circumstances.
Meanwhile, police authorities have already elevated the security posture across Rawalpindi, placing law enforcement on high alert. This includes intensified patrolling and the deployment of additional security personnel around sensitive locations throughout the garrison city.
Officials reiterated the importance of proactive steps by both private establishments and law enforcement agencies to ensure public safety. The findings of the Special Branch audit underscore the necessity for food outlets and similar establishments to regularly review and strengthen their security arrangements in coordination with local authorities.
