England's cricket team is set to face India in the T20 World Cup semi-final on Thursday, with all-rounder Sam Curran expressing confidence ahead of the high-stakes encounter. The match will take place at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium, where a crowd of 35,000 is expected to create a charged atmosphere in support of the home side.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Curran stated that England would approach the match without fear, despite India being considered favourites and playing on home soil. Curran highlighted the importance of managing the intense environment, saying the team's first objective would be to quieten the enthusiastic local supporters.
Curran noted that many England players, including himself and teammate Will Jacks, have experience playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL), which he believes will help them handle the pressure. "It's an experience as a young cricketer you dream of — playing India in the semi-final of a World Cup," Curran said.
The left-arm seamer, who has recently rejoined the England squad after a period out of international contention, credited his performances in T20 franchise leagues, including the IPL, for his return. He acknowledged India's quality as a side but remained optimistic about England's chances.
The semi-final winner will progress to the final to face either South Africa or New Zealand. The match is anticipated to be a major event, with both teams vying for a place in the tournament's decisive fixture.
