BEIJING: China will continue to promote high-quality development and expand high-level opening-up, positioning itself as a stabilizing force in an increasingly turbulent global landscape, a senior political advisor said on Tuesday ahead of the country’s annual “two sessions.”
Speaking at a press conference of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), spokesperson Liu Jieyi said China remains “the most stable, most reliable, and most positive force in a turbulent world” by pursuing domestic development that also benefits the international community.
The fourth session of the 14th National Committee of the CPPCC will open on March 4 in Beijing, followed by the fourth session of the 14th National People’s Congress on March 5. The annual gatherings of China’s top political advisory body and legislature are collectively known as the “two sessions.”
Liu underscored that actively conducting foreign exchanges is a key responsibility of the CPPCC. Over the past year, the advisory body has advanced public diplomacy, people-to-people exchanges, and think-tank engagement, contributing to China’s broader diplomatic objectives.
He noted that the global landscape is undergoing profound changes unseen in a century, characterized by intertwined transformation and turbulence, with mounting global challenges.
Against this backdrop, China, he said, continues to champion the vision of building a community with a shared future for mankind and is actively promoting major global initiatives, including the Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, Global Civilization Initiative, and Global Governance Initiative.
Liu added that China is advancing high-quality cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, advocating an equal and orderly multipolar world and inclusive economic globalization that delivers universal benefits.
He emphasized that China remains committed to working with the international community to build a world characterized by lasting peace, universal security, shared prosperity, openness, inclusiveness, and environmental sustainability.
