PESHAWAR: Terrorists launched a series of coordinated attacks on police stations and outposts across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa late Friday, injuring a head constable and a civilian, but all assaults were successfully repelled, police officials reported.
In Peshawar’s Badhaber area, attackers hurled a hand grenade at a police station, wounding Head Constable Faisal and a civilian in Matani. In Bannu, assailants fired sniper shots at the PP Kinger Bridge post and exchanged fire at Domel police outpost, while in Hangu, gunmen attacked the Talab checkpost but were thwarted without casualties.
Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hamid condemned the attackers, describing them as “cowards” who flee when met with a firm police response. “These troublemakers only know how to attack from cover… as soon as they face a firm response, they run away like cowards,” he said.
The attacks occurred amid heightened Pakistan-Afghanistan border tensions, with Afghan forces reportedly striking Mir Ali market in North Waziristan in retaliation for Pakistani actions. Security forces remain on high alert, and no group has claimed responsibility for the assaults.
