Kashmir Solidarity Day to be observed across country on February 5

ISLAMABAD: Arrangements are under way across Pakistan to observe Kashmir Solidarity Day on February 5 (Thursday), with a range of activities planned to express support for the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir in their pursuit of the right to self-determination through a United Nations mandated plebiscite.

Kashmir Solidarity Day is observed annually by the people and governments of Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir to reaffirm their bond with the people of IIOJK and to restate their commitment to the cause of the occupied territory.

The day will feature rallies, demonstrations and seminars throughout the country. Human chains will also be formed at all entry points of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, where participants from both sides will join hands to symbolise unity and fraternity.

Public and private institutions, educational bodies, and cultural and literary organisations have scheduled conferences, discussion sessions, competitions and public gatherings to draw attention to the Kashmiri people’s demand for self-determination in line with United Nations resolutions.

Print and electronic media outlets are expected to focus coverage on the Kashmir issue, including reported human rights concerns in the Valley and Pakistan’s stated position that the dispute should be resolved in accordance with UN resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people.

The day will begin with special prayers for those who have lost their lives in the conflict and for the success of the Kashmiri cause. Messages from senior officials are also expected to be issued on the occasion.

A group of federal ministers will lead a solidarity walk on February 5, 2026 to mark the day and pay tribute to the sacrifices of the Kashmiri people.

The observance is intended to draw international attention to the longstanding dispute over Jammu and Kashmir and to convey a message of support from the people of Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir to those in IIOJK. Pakistan has reiterated that it will continue to extend moral, political and diplomatic support to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
