LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif on Sunday visited the holy shrine of Sufi saint Hazrat Ali Bin Usman Hajveri (Data Darbar) to review ongoing renovation and expansion works.
Accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Nawaz Sharif said serving devotees is a national responsibility and highlighted the importance of providing maximum facilities, including security, cleanliness, and ease of access.
He added that all resources are being employed to preserve the shrine’s sanctity, historical heritage, and spiritual environment. Nawaz Sharif noted that millions of devotees from across Pakistan and abroad visit Data Darbar annually, and the government is committed to offering modern facilities while safeguarding the shrine’s religious and cultural significance.
The former prime minister and Ishaq Dar offered Fateha, showered flowers at the shrine, and prayed for the country’s peace, security, prosperity, and stability.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar described the expansion as a historic and important initiative aimed at facilitating devotees, reflecting the government’s vision of preserving religious heritage while improving public services.
Auqaf Secretary Ehsan Bhutta briefed Nawaz Sharif and Ishaq Dar on the latest progress of the expansion project and ongoing development works. Both leaders expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of the work and commended the performance of the Auqaf department.
