SHO killed as armed robbers open fire on police patrol in Shikarpur

SHAKARPUR: A station house officer was martyred after being shot by suspected robbers during an encounter on Sukkur Road along the National Highway, police said on Friday.

The martyred officer was identified as SHO Ghulam Shah. According to police officials, he was leading a team that responded to a report that seven armed robbers had blocked Sukkur Road and were looting passengers.

Police said the team reached the area soon after receiving the call. As the police approached the spot, the suspects opened fire, critically injuring the SHO during the exchange.

He was immediately shifted to a private hospital for medical treatment, where he later succumbed to his injuries, police confirmed.

Following the incident, the suspects managed to flee the scene. Police said the area was cordoned off and a search operation was launched to trace and arrest the fleeing robbers.
