When is Ramadan starting in Pakistan? Expected dates for revealed

ISLAMABAD: Astronomers in Pakistan have predicted the likely dates for Ramadan, Eid-ul-Fitr, and Eid-ul-Adha in 2026, based on scientific calculations.

According to their forecast, the moon for Ramadan is expected to be visible on February 18, meaning that the first day of Ramadan will likely fall on February 19. Experts also predict that the Shawwal moon will be sighted on March 20, placing Eid-ul-Fitr on March 21.

The month of Dhul-Hijjah is anticipated to begin on May 17, with Eid-ul-Adha expected to occur on May 27, according to current astronomical data.

Additionally, the official list of public holidays for 2026 has been released, which includes around 17 public holidays. These holidays encompass both national and religious occasions such as Kashmir Day, Eid-ul-Fitr, Pakistan Day, Labour Day, Eid-ul-Adha, Independence Day, Eid Milad-un-Nabi (SAW), Iqbal Day, Quaid-e-Azam Day, and Christmas. Since some religious holidays depend on moon sighting, slight changes in the dates may occur.
