FG/Din and FG/Asean record wins on day two of Lahore Open Polo Championship 2025

LAHORE: FG/Din and FG/Asean secured impressive victories on day two of the 14th Lahore Open Polo Championship 2025 – Patrons Cup, organised by the Lahore Polo Club.

A large number of sponsors, patrons and polo enthusiasts were present to witness the encounters. Prominent among them were Adnan Jalil Azam, Director Newage Cables; Farooq Amin Sufi and Sufi Haroon bin Haris, Directors Master Paints; Abubakar Siddique, Director Black Horse Paints; Maj (retd) Amjad Ghafoor, Secretary Lahore Polo Club; along with several leading polo players.

In the first match of the day, FG/Din edged out Rijas/Sheikhoo by 5-4 in a thrilling contest. Agha Musa Ali Khan starred for the winning side with an outstanding performance, scoring four goals, while Sheikh Muhammad Raffay added one goal. For Rijas/Sheikhoo, Raja Sami Ullah struck two goals, while Osman Aziz Anwar and Mohib Faisal Shehzad scored one goal each.

The opening chukka remained evenly balanced, with both sides finding the net once. The second chukka followed a similar pattern as each team added another goal, keeping the contest finely poised at 2–2. FG/Din then shifted gears, raising the intensity and striking two quick successive goals to seize an impressive 4–2 advantage.

The third chukka proved goalless as both defences stood firm. In a tense and decisive fourth chukka, Rijas/Sheikhoo mounted a strong comeback, scoring two goals to FG/Din’s one. However, despite the late surge, FG/Din held their nerve to edge out a thrilling 5–4 victory, sealing the match by the narrow of margins.

The second match saw FG/Asean dominate proceedings against Master Paints, registering an 8-5 victory. Raja Mikayial Sami and Saqib Khan Khakwani led the charge for FG/Asean with four goals apiece. For Master Paints, Ahmed Ali Tiwana scored three goals, while Farooq Amin Sufi and Col (retd) Omer Minhas contributed one goal each.

Master Paints made a flying start, dominating the opening chukka and hammering in two quick goals to race to a 2–0 lead. FG/Asean responded before the end of the chukka with a well-taken goal to trail narrowly at 1–2. The second chukka produced an evenly contested battle as both sides struck two goals apiece, allowing Master Paints to maintain a slender 4–3 advantage at the halfway stage.

Momentum shifted in the third chukka when FG/Asean netted the only goal to restore parity at 4–4, setting up a pulsating finish. The decisive fourth chukka belonged entirely to FG/Asean, who turned on the style with an explosive display, blasting four superb goals while conceding just one. Their dominant surge sealed a convincing 8–5 victory and capped a thrilling contest.
