Bahria University hosts conference celebrating 75 years of Pak-China ties

ISLAMABAD: Bahria University hosted a conference on Thursday to celebrate seventy five years of Pakistan China diplomatic relations, bringing together students, academics and delegates for a day focused on art, dialogue and exchange.

The event, titled “Bridging Horizons: Celebrating Pakistan China Deep Rooted Friendship,” was jointly organised by the university’s Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Institute for a Community with a Shared Future at the Communication University of China in Beijing, and the Embassy of China in Pakistan.

According to organisers, the conference served as the concluding programme of a month long series of campus wide student competitions, including poster creation, article writing and speech contests. More than 150 students participated across the different categories, contributing work centred on Pakistan China relations.

The day opened with an inaugural session where speakers reflected on the historical depth of the two countries’ partnership and its significance over seven decades. They highlighted the role of young people in sustaining a long standing and multifaceted relationship.

Art became a focal point when the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour inaugurated a poster exhibition marking the seventy fifth anniversary of Pakistan China friendship. Forty student artworks were displayed and three were selected for top awards. The exhibition received strong appreciation from faculty, visiting delegates and students for promoting cultural understanding and goodwill.

The emphasis on dialogue continued in the second session, where speakers discussed cultural, strategic and economic aspects of Pakistan China cooperation. They underlined the importance of education, research and youth participation in shaping the future direction of bilateral ties.

Sessions three and four were held simultaneously and provided a platform for article writing competition winners. Four students presented in each session, sharing their views on political, cultural and regional dimensions of Pakistan China relations. Both sessions concluded with the announcement of the speech competition winners and the distribution of souvenirs to session chairs, co chairs and participating students.

With nearly 500 students in attendance, organisers described the conference as one of the most well attended academic events held to mark Pakistan China friendship. They said the programme not only honoured seventy five years of partnership but also encouraged meaningful student led dialogue on future cooperation between the two countries.
