LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Aalia Neelum has ordered police authorities to immediately step up security measures in all courts across Punjab, underscoring that the safety of judges, lawyers, staff, and litigants is the judiciary’s highest priority.
The directive follows a recent terrorist attack outside the Islamabad District Courts, which prompted the chief justice to stress the urgent need to strengthen the security and sanctity of judicial institutions, according to a statement issued on Wednesday.
Chief Justice Neelum instructed officials to identify and close all security gaps at the Lahore High Court and district courts, ensuring full use of available resources for foolproof protection.
Security has since been intensified across judicial complexes in Punjab, with reinforced walk-through gates, metal detectors, and comprehensive body searches at all entry and exit points.
Enhanced CCTV surveillance now operates around the clock inside and outside court buildings to detect any suspicious movement and enable rapid response. Additional monitoring and improved security protocols have also been implemented in parking areas to ensure the safety and convenience of all visitors.
