RAWALPINDI: Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Broadcasting, Barrister Danyal Chaudhry, warned on Wednesday that Pakistan would show “zero tolerance” toward terrorism and attempts to destabilize the country, declaring that any threat to national security would be confronted with full force.
He was addressing an inauguration ceremony for the upgraded Liaquat Bagh Sports Complex, attended by Provincial Minister for Sports and Culture Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar, local lawmakers, the deputy commissioner, and representatives of the sports community.
Chaudhry said the government was committed to youth empowerment and the promotion of sports under the leadership of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz. “We are creating enhanced opportunities for healthy activities,” he said, adding that the renovated facilities reflected the administration’s dedication to developing athletic talent in Rawalpindi.
The upgraded complex includes Pakistan’s first dedicated athletes’ hostel, capable of housing national and international teams, along with a new women’s gymnasium established on the Chief Minister’s instructions to encourage female participation in sports.
The parliamentary secretary also spoke on the country’s broader progress, claiming the government had restored Pakistan’s international standing. “When our government took charge, the nation faced economic turmoil and global isolation. Today, through the efforts of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir, Pakistan’s position in the world has been significantly strengthened,” he said.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s unified stance against extremism, he said the sacrifices of the security forces would not go in vain. “We remain steadfast in defending every inch of our country against terrorism and external interference,” he added.
