IHC to hear plea seeking Imran Khan’s X account suspension

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Saturday scheduled a hearing for November 4 on a petition seeking suspension of incarcerated Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s X (formerly Twitter) account.

According to the cause list issued by the registrar’s office, the case will be heard by Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir.

The court has issued notices to Mr. Khan and has also sought responses from the National Cyber Crime Agency, the Superintendent of Adiala Jail and other parties.

In the petition, it has been argued that while Mr. Khan is in custody, alleged inflammatory and provocative content is being posted from his X account, which should be removed immediately and the account blocked.

The petitioner requests that the illegal and malicious tweets from Mr. Khan be deleted and prevented from further spread so as to block negative propaganda against the public peace and state institutions.
