Man replaces his eye with a two-carat diamond

Slater Jones, a jewelry store owner from Alabama, USA, has made headlines for embedding a two-carat diamond into his prosthetic eye, creating what is now being called the world’s most expensive and unique artificial eye.

Jones lost his right eye due to a medical condition, but instead of opting for a typical prosthetic, he decided to turn his replacement into something extraordinary. Collaborating with Dr. John Lim, a well-known ocularist who has crafted nearly 10,000 artificial eyes, Jones spent six weeks working on the custom prosthetic. The result was a stunning eye with a real diamond embedded into its iris design.

While Jones acknowledged the pain of losing his eye, he said the diamond has brought “a new light” into his life. “I didn’t just want a replacement – I wanted something that reflected who I am,” he shared, adding that the diamond represents both beauty and resilience.

Dr. Lim, who has created thousands of prosthetic eyes over his career, described this one as the most valuable and distinctive he has ever made. “It’s the only one that contains a real diamond,” he said.

The striking prosthetic has gone viral on social media, garnering both praise for Jones’ creativity and concerns about the safety of placing a diamond so close to human tissue.
