Suspects killed by accomplices during police encounter in Islamabad bakery murder case

ISLAMABAD: Two suspects linked to the murder of Ihsan Elahi, Director (Land) at the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA), were killed by their own accomplices during a police encounter.

The suspects, identified as Abid Yaseen and Abrar Khan, were wanted in connection with the October 7 shooting outside the Loafology bakery in Blue Area, Islamabad. The attack resulted in the death of Ihsan Elahi, who was shot multiple times, while another man, Qaiser Ashfaq, was injured.

After the attack, the suspects went into hiding, and police special teams launched efforts to apprehend them. They were eventually arrested during a routine check within the Noon police jurisdiction. During interrogation, Yaseen and Khan admitted to their involvement in the shooting and agreed to assist authorities in identifying their accomplices.

While the police were escorting the suspects to the location of their associates, unidentified gunmen opened fire on the police team. The officers remained unharmed due to protective measures, but both suspects were fatally struck by bullets, believed to have been fired by their own partners in crime.

The bodies of the deceased were sent to a hospital for a post-mortem examination. Police have since launched a search operation to locate and apprehend the remaining suspects involved in the crime.
