ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and China on Thursday signed an agreement to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in the field of cultural heritage.
The agreement was signed by Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture Aurangzeb Khan Khichi and Cultural Counsellor of China’s National Cultural Heritage Administration Chen Peng.
According to the Ministry of National Heritage and Culture, the accord aims to deepen bilateral collaboration, enhance mutual understanding, and promote people-to-people ties between the two countries.
The new framework builds on a 2022 agreement between Pakistan and China to prevent the theft, illicit excavation, and illegal trade of cultural property. Under the latest accord, both sides agreed to support joint efforts to combat the trafficking of artefacts and safeguard cultural heritage.
Officials said the agreement reflects the two countries’ continued commitment to cultural diplomacy and the protection of shared historical legacies.
