KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman has categorically rejected the proposed two-state solution for Palestine, asserting that “there is only one state, and that is Palestine.”
Addressing a large Gaza Solidarity March in Karachi, Hafiz Naeem said Israel’s creation was “an illegitimate imposition” and warned that any attempt to recognize the Zionist state would face strong public backlash.
“If anyone dares to recognize Israel, the people will not spare them,” he said. “We will block the path of anyone who accepts the Zionist entity.”
The JI leader accused the United States of “hypocrisy and double standards,” saying it brands Hamas as a terrorist group while continuing to arm and empower Israel. He also criticized the United Nations for its “failure to uphold justice,” arguing that “the world now needs a new United Nations.”
Hafiz Naeem recalled that two landmark resolutions were passed in the 1940s — one supporting the creation of Pakistan and another affirming the rights of Palestinians. “Hamas does not recognize Israel but still engages in political dialogue. If you wish to understand true diplomacy, learn it from Hamas,” he told the crowd.
Citing international law, the JI chief said the UN Charter gives occupied people the right to resist by force. “If a land is occupied, its people have the right to defend it. Hamas is doing exactly that,” he claimed.
Condemning Israel’s ongoing military actions in Gaza, Hafiz Naeem said Palestinians continue to demonstrate “unwavering courage and faith” despite relentless bombardment. “The people of Gaza stand tall — bombed, besieged, but unbroken,” he said.
