JI chief warns against policy shift on Israel

LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman on Sunday warned that any move to alter Pakistan’s stance on Israel would be firmly resisted and those responsible would be made an example. He was addressing the “National Conference for Solidarity with Palestine” organised by JUI-F in Lahore.

Rehman called Israel and its supporter, the United States, terrorists, accusing the US of fueling bloodshed worldwide. He said Muslims have ample resources but are held back by fear of the US, and urged Pakistan’s army to fight for Muslim causes, including Kashmir.

He warned that pressure was being exerted on Pakistan to recognise Israel but credited Gaza’s resistance for thwarting such plans. Rehman stressed that Gaza’s struggle had awakened global consciousness and called for Muslim unity against oppression.
