After much anticipation, the long-awaited film Neelofar, starring Pakistan’s iconic on-screen duo Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan, is finally set to hit theatres this winter. The news was shared via a joint Instagram post by the film’s team, which included the caption, “Agli mulaqat ka intezar rahay ga… Neelofar — This winter.”
The post also featured a short video showing a man and woman with their foreheads pressed together, silhouetted against a red backdrop, heightening the excitement for the upcoming film.
Neelofar was originally scheduled for release in December 2022, but delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic pushed the premiere back. Since then, fans have eagerly awaited updates about the film’s release.
In a heartfelt post marking the end of filming in 2020, Mahira Khan shared her emotional attachment to the film: “I take with me a piece of you, leaving a bit of my soul with you… My darling Neelofar, I shall miss you, oh so much… Each and every one of them put their heart and soul in it. Can’t wait for all of you to see our hard work and love on your screens soon.”
Directed and written by Ammar Rasool, the film stars Fawad as Mansoor Ali Khan and Mahira in the titular role of Neelofar. The cast also includes Madiha Imam, Samiya Mumtaz, Behroze Sabzwari, Atiqa Odho, and Gohar Rasheed, with Usaf Shariq producing and Fawad Khan and Hassaan Khalid serving as executive producers.
This marks the third major collaboration between Mahira and Fawad, following their iconic pairing in Humsafar and their blockbuster reunion in The Legend of Maula Jatt. Fans have been eagerly waiting to see the duo back on the big screen together, and with Neelofar, that dream is about to come true.
Although the exact release date is yet to be revealed, the announcement has already created a buzz on social media, with fans eagerly counting down to the much-anticipated film’s release.
