QUETTA: Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, has reiterated that the repatriation of Afghan refugees will be carried out in a transparent, organized, and respectful manner, with particular care for women, children, and the elderly.
Chairing a high-level meeting on Thursday to review repatriation efforts and law-and-order conditions in Qila Abdullah, CM Bugti made it clear that any instance of misconduct or disrespect during the process would invite strict disciplinary action.
Senior officials including Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan, Additional Chief Secretary Home Hamza Shafqaat, Principal Secretary Babar Khan, IG Police Muhammad Tahir, DG Levies Abdul Ghaffar Magsi, Commissioner Quetta Division Shahzaib Kakar, and Commissioner for Afghan Refugees Arbab Talib Mola attended the meeting. DIG Zhob, deputy commissioners, and district police officers from Qila Abdullah and Chaman joined via video link.
Bugti issued firm directives to ensure the deployment of female security staff to assist women refugees, emphasizing that “no disrespectful behavior will be tolerated at any stage.” He assured that swift action would be taken against anyone found guilty of misconduct.
The Chief Minister also expressed serious concern over the deteriorating security situation in Qila Abdullah and ordered indiscriminate operations against criminal elements without distinction of jurisdiction between Levies and Police. He pledged full provincial support and resources to restore peace in the district.
For accountability, Bugti directed divisional and district administrations to implement urgent measures, maintain law and order, and submit daily progress reports to the Chief Minister’s Secretariat.
