Bugti orders transfer of non-local employees to home districts

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti has said Class-IV employees serving in districts other than their native areas will be transferred to their home districts, as the provincial government examines appointments made outside local areas.

The announcement came in response to a question raised by MPA Maulana Hidayatur Rehman from Gwadar. During the discussion, it emerged that 19 non-local individuals are currently working in Class-IV posts in Gwadar.

Bugti said similar instances had been identified in a number of districts across Balochistan, where people from other areas had been appointed to low-grade positions. He said a formal inquiry was in progress and added that employees appointed from outside the districts concerned would be sent back to their respective home districts.

“It is unfair that despite the availability of local candidates in Gwadar, positions such as drivers and other low-grade posts have been filled by outsiders,” he added.

The chief minister’s remarks indicate that the issue is not limited to Gwadar alone, with the government reviewing comparable cases reported from other parts of the province.

Inquiry into overseas employment programme

Bugti also said investigations were under way into alleged irregularities in the overseas employment programme for youth. He stated that action would be taken against those found involved in fraud in connection with the scheme.

According to the chief minister, the inquiry into the matter is ongoing, and those responsible for wrongdoing will be punished.

The developments were shared as the provincial government addressed concerns raised on the floor regarding recruitment practices and alleged irregularities linked to public programmes.

The issue of non-local appointments in lower-grade posts drew particular attention in the case of Gwadar, where the presence of 19 employees from outside the district was highlighted during the exchange.

Bugti said the government was moving ahead with a formal process to examine such appointments and implement transfers in cases where employees had been posted outside their native districts. He also reiterated that the inquiry into the youth overseas employment programme would continue and that those involved in any fraud would face punishment.
