Chahat Fateh Ali Khan mulls legal action after UK restaurant shares egg attack video

BLACKBURN: Social media star Chahat Fateh Ali Khan is considering legal action against a UK restaurant in Blackburn after they posted a video of him being egged at their venue. The video was shared nearly three months after the incident, despite the restaurant previously telling Khan that no video existed and that nothing would be published.

The incident occurred on June 19, 2025, when Khan was leaving the restaurant following a performance. As he exited, the security team asked him to take photos outside, where he was then attacked by two masked men who pelted him with eggs. The video, which surfaced on Instagram, shows the attack in detail.

Khan, who has since received an outpouring of support, expressed frustration at the restaurant’s management for allegedly lying to him when he sought the video to file a police complaint in June. He said the staff had told him that their CCTV cameras did not capture the incident and no employee had recorded it. However, the same video was later posted online by the restaurant, prompting Khan to accuse them of publishing it to gain followers and attention.

In an Instagram reel, Khan explained that the restaurant had invited him to perform for a ribbon-cutting event and meet-and-greet. Afterward, he was asked to take pictures with the security team, where the egging took place. He revealed that he felt unwell following the incident, and it took him four days to recover.

Khan added, “I wanted to file a complaint with the local police four days later. When I approached the restaurant for evidence to aid my case, they said they didn’t have any, as their CCTV cameras didn’t record anything, nor did any employee record a video.”

He continued, “I thought they were right until three months later when they published the same video on their own Instagram page. This is shameful. The management lied to me. I will take them to court, and I will get their business shut down. I have been receiving threatening phone calls from unknown numbers.”

Khan also expressed gratitude to the Pakistani entertainment industry for their support. A spokesperson for the UK restaurant stated, “We have no comment to make at this point. It’s true that we control the page that published the video. Chahat was our guest when he was attacked in June.”
