Conflicting details have emerged regarding the tragic death of Sophia Hutchins, Caitlyn Jenner’s longtime friend and manager. Hutchins, 29, passed away in a devastating ATV accident near Caitlyn’s Malibu home just hours after the shocking death of soccer star Diogo Jota.
The accident occurred around 11:30 am local time when Hutchins was reportedly riding the ATV on the road. According to TMZ, Hutchins collided with the bumper of a moving vehicle, causing her ATV to careen over the shoulder and fall 350 feet into a ravine. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The two people in the car Hutchins hit were unharmed.
However, Daily Mail provided a different account, claiming that a pickup truck hit Hutchins’ ATV, triggering the collision. Investigators, speaking to KCAL, confirmed that the truck driver did not appear to be impaired or intoxicated, though his identity has not been released. Gruesome images of the scene show the blue ATV lying atop a rusted car, possibly suggesting the area’s history of accidents, with both vehicles having met similar fates at the same location on Decker Canyon Road.
Caitlyn Jenner has not yet commented on the incident, and it remains unclear whether she was home at the time of the crash or witnessed it.

Sophia Hutchins, who was known for being Caitlyn’s manager and a close confidant, had a significant impact on Caitlyn’s life and career. Hutchins had publicly expressed how Caitlyn’s 2015 interview inspired her to transition, helping her realize that being transgender could be part of a successful, fulfilling life. The pair first met in 2015 after Caitlyn’s divorce from Kris Jenner, and Hutchins replaced Kris as Caitlyn’s manager, a role she held for several years.
Although their close relationship sparked speculation about a romantic connection, Hutchins clarified in 2019 that they were “never romantically involved.” Caitlyn, who often praised Hutchins for her intelligence and entrepreneurial spirit, once described her as “my best friend, family, and confidant” in The New York Times.

Hutchins was also close to Caitlyn’s children, including Kim Kardashian, Kylie, and Kendall Jenner. She even posed for Kim Kardashian’s SKIMS brand in 2020, sharing that she had a strong bond with all of Caitlyn’s family, particularly with Kris, Kim, Kylie, and Kendall.
As the investigation into Hutchins’ death continues, tributes to the young woman who played such a central role in Caitlyn’s life have poured in from family and friends.
