Iran commends Pakistan’s support amid regional escalation

ISLAMABAD: Dr. Raza Amiri Moghaddam, Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan, on Monday praised Pakistan for its steadfast support during the recent regional escalation, emphasizing that Pakistan played the most prominent role among all friendly nations. Speaking to a private news channel, the ambassador noted that both the government and people of Pakistan, along with the media, showed firm solidarity with Iran during the conflict.

Dr. Amiri highlighted that Pakistan extended full support at key international forums, including the UN Security Council and the IAEA Board of Governors. He commended Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Defence for offering comprehensive cooperation, reflecting deep bilateral ties.

In contrast, the ambassador noted that India had not offered any support to Iran, suggesting that India remained under U.S. influence and had close relations with Israel.

The ambassador also expressed appreciation for the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for its strong condemnation of Israeli actions, noting its enhanced performance compared to past responses. Additionally, he acknowledged the support from the Arab League and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), highlighting the unified stance against Israel’s actions.

Regarding the conflict, Dr. Amiri clarified that Iran’s response was defensive, as the aggression originated from Israel. He emphasized that the future of any ceasefire depended on Israel’s actions, warning that Israel could reignite the conflict if it believed it could secure a victory.

The ambassador extended gratitude to China, Russia, Pakistan, Algeria, and Türkiye for their backing of Iran in the United Nations during the crisis.
