QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan chaired a meeting on Tuesday to review the province’s preparations for the 2025 monsoon season. The primary goal of the meeting was to mobilize all relevant institutions and formulate a coordinated strategy to tackle the anticipated challenges of the monsoon.
Secretary of Irrigation Hafiz Abdul Majid, DG PDMA, along with all Divisional Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners participated in the meeting via video link. They discussed preparations for the monsoon in their respective districts and addressed any challenges they were facing.
The Chief Secretary emphasized the importance of being ready to respond to the situation immediately, ensuring all staff and relevant institutions had their machinery prepared to improve drainage and remove obstacles effectively. This proactive step is intended to protect urban infrastructure, prevent urban flooding, and ensure proper drainage during the rains.
Instructions were given to department heads to implement preventive measures and finalize their preparations for any emergency or potential flood situations. The Chief Secretary also directed deputy commissioners to hold meetings in their districts and communicate their responsibilities to the concerned monsoon departments.
A key decision was made to establish an effective communication system between all institutions to handle emergencies quickly and efficiently.
