BEIJING: China stands ready to work with Indonesia to continuously enrich the China-Indonesia community with a shared future and jointly pursue the path of modernization, Chinese Premier Li Qiang said on Saturday.
Li made the remarks in a written statement when he arrived for an official visit to Indonesia at the invitation of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.
Li underscored the enduring friendship and growing partnership between China and Indonesia, describing the two nations as close neighbors across the sea and trusted partners with a shared future.
On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, Premier Li noted that bilateral ties have witnessed sustained and robust development, with practical cooperation delivering substantial outcomes.
“China and Indonesia have set an example of major developing countries working together to become stronger and achieving mutual benefit and win-win results,” Li said, emphasizing that the traditional friendship has stood the test of time and continues to flourish.
He recalled that in 2024, President Xi Jinping and President Prabowo Subianto met twice and reached an important consensus on building a China-Indonesia community with a shared future, one that carries significant regional and global influence.
These meetings, Li noted, have ushered bilateral relations into a new stage, bringing fresh opportunities for cooperation in a wide range of fields.
China, he said, is ready to work with Indonesia to further strengthen cooperation under the framework of the “five pillars,” enrich the China-Indonesia shared future partnership with new connotations of the time and jointly advance along the path to modernization.
The Chinese premier urged joint efforts to contribute more to regional peace, global stability and sustainable development.
Li also noted that this year marks the 70th anniversary of the historic Bandung Conference, a landmark moment in Asia-Africa solidarity.
He said that the Bandung Spirit – featuring solidarity, friendship and cooperation – has long guided the independent development of countries in Asia and Africa and continues to inspire collaboration across the Global South.
“In a world undergoing accelerated changes unseen in a century, countries are facing increasing common challenges,” Li said, adding that as major developing countries and important powers of the Global South, China and Indonesia should further carry forward the Bandung Spirit, strengthen solidarity and coordination, and promote the practice of true multilateralism.
The Chinese premier landed in Jakarta on Saturday. During the visit, Li will meet and hold talks with President Prabowo and other Indonesian leaders for in-depth exchanges on deepening the robust all-round strategic cooperation between the two countries. He will also attend an event hosted by the business community.
