LAHORE: Punjab Police have arrested 3,375 individuals across the province in 2025 for violating the Anti-Kite Flying Act, according to a police spokesperson. A total of 3,301 cases have been registered, with authorities recovering 446,506 kites and 15,888 spools of string.
In Lahore alone, 1,010 suspects were arrested and 991 cases registered. Police also seized 24,824 kites and 1,168 spools of string in the city as part of an ongoing crackdown.
Comparative figures from last year show that 12,525 people were arrested and 11,866 cases filed for similar offences across Punjab. IG Punjab has directed regional, city, and district police officers to ensure strict implementation of the Kite Flying Prohibition Amendment Bill.
He stressed the need for a zero-tolerance policy against the manufacture, sale, and use of kites and metallic string, calling the practice dangerous and life-threatening. He also ordered action against those involved in online sales of prohibited kite materials.
