Vehicle owners given 15 days to fix smoke emissions or face ban

KARACHI: A campaign to control vehicle emissions, launched on May 5 under the direction of Sindh Secretary for Environment Agha Shahnawaz, is being strictly enforced across Karachi with zero tolerance for pollution.

Joint operations by the Sindh Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) and traffic police inspected 133 vehicles so far. Among these, 94 passed the inspection while 39 were fined immediately for excessive smoke emissions. Non-compliant vehicles received red stickers, giving owners 15 days to rectify the issue or face a ban from road use. Environment-friendly vehicles were issued green stickers.
