Buckingham Palace has confirmed that King Charles and Queen Camilla will host French President Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron for a state visit at Windsor Castle in July 2025.
The official announcement was made on social media, where the Palace shared a photograph of King Charles and Queen Camilla with President Macron and his wife. The post detailed the visit, stating, “The President of the French Republic, His Excellency Emmanuel Macron, accompanied by Mrs. Brigitte Macron, has accepted an invitation from His Majesty The King to pay a State Visit to the United Kingdom from Tuesday 8th July to Thursday 10th July 2025.”
The announcement also confirmed that the royal couple will be hosting the Macrons at Windsor Castle, marking a significant diplomatic engagement between the UK and France.
This news follows closely on the heels of a serious address by King Charles, in which he warned of “global uncertainty” during a new speech at Windsor Castle. The 76-year-old monarch was attending the Household Cavalry new Standards Parade, where he addressed the troops about the importance of maintaining excellence and the values symbolised by their military standards, especially during these uncertain times.
In his speech, King Charles stressed the crucial role of the armed forces in upholding the UK’s legacy of achievement and leadership. The speech reflected his concerns about the global challenges faced by the world and the need for resilience in times of crisis.

This announcement signals the continued strengthening of UK-France relations, underscored by a notable visit set to occur during a period of global reflection. The timing also emphasizes the monarch’s commitment to reinforcing international ties amidst turbulent times on the world stage.
